Aug. 24 – Sept. 8 - Italy cycling trip– Dolomites
The new dates are Friday, August 24th to Saturday, September 8th, 2018. There is an option to stay an extra day and return on Monday, September 9th PLUS there is now the opportunity to arrive one day earlier on Thursday, August 23rd. Airfares for August-September are similar to June. The connections are still Montreal-Venice non-stop on AirTransat with overnight flights east-bound and mid-day flights west-bound.
New hotel reservations for this trip have been made in all the same towns/areas and many of the same hotels as for June. As before, there is space for 14 people, including the SAG driver, spread over two double rooms (for couples) and five twin rooms (for singles in shared accommodation). The new cost estimates for accommodations are slightly higher than for June, about €660 to €725 per person. As before, all rooms have been reserved with the option for free cancellation up until shortly before the trip dates. Also, we will explore options for bringing these costs down a bit but for now we have a workable plan.
For the June version of this trip, there were about five serious commitments plus a bunch of tire-kickers and one-off reasons for people who couldn’t go in June but might at another time. We are optimistic that by making this change, we will get at least eight which will be enough for this trip to proceed. We made our first trip to France in 2011 with eight, and that worked out well enough.
All other plan details remain the same (itinerary, routes). Please contact Don Gregoire at speedyjets12@outlook.com and Tom Seniuk at thomas.seniuk@sympatico.ca if you are seriously interested in coming on this trip.
